Is Potatso a VPN?
Yes and no. On your iPhone, Potatso is a VPN app: it routes your device’s traffic through Apple’s VPN framework. But it is not a VPN service: it runs no servers and sells no access. Your traffic goes to servers you already have.
Yes: a VPN on your device
Potatso uses Apple’s Network Extension framework, the same one VPN apps use, to route traffic from every app on your device. iOS lists it as a VPN configuration, so you will see the VPN icon in the status bar and a VPN entry in Settings while Potatso is connected.
No: not a VPN service
VPN services sell access to their own servers. Potatso has no servers of its own: it sends your traffic only to the servers in your configuration, according to your rules. Read the privacy policy for what the app collects.
