# Slow or unstable connection

## What you see {#symptom}

Pages load slowly, or video stutters, while Potatso is connected.

## Likely causes {#causes}

Speed depends mostly on the server you use, how far away it is, and how busy it is. A slow network also makes the connection slow, with or without the VPN.

## What to try {#fixes}

1. **Pick a server closer to you,** or an automatic group that picks the fastest server for you.
2. **Compare your servers with Speed Test.** Speed Test shows every server's latency so you can compare them. It's a Pro feature.
3. **Compare with the VPN off.** If it's slow then too, the cause is your network.

To see the advice in the app, open **Settings** > **Troubleshooting** and tap **Slow or Unstable**. **Check Internet Access** on that page runs the [no internet check](/docs/troubleshooting/no-internet/#check), which tests your network, the VPN, your server and DNS.

## Contact support {#support}

If it's slow only with Potatso and every server, tap **Send Report** on the **Slow or Unstable** page. Potatso opens an email to support with recent logs and your configuration attached.
