# Move from Shadowrocket

You can bring your Shadowrocket servers to Potatso with the same subscription URL, share links or QR codes. Potatso doesn't read Shadowrocket's own rules as they are, so pick a mode or a rule set in Potatso instead.

## Bring your subscription {#subscription}

Use the subscription URL your provider gave you, the same one you added to Shadowrocket.

1. Copy the subscription URL.
2. In Potatso, on **Home**, tap the **+** button, then **Import via Link/File**.
3. Paste the URL and tap **Continue**.
4. Check the preview, choose where the import goes, and tap the button at the bottom.

Potatso asks the subscription server for a Clash / Mihomo configuration. If your provider offers one, you get its proxy groups and rules along with the servers, and you can use Rule mode right away. If the server sends a plain list of servers, Potatso imports the servers, and the profile keeps updating from the URL.

See [Import subscriptions and configurations](/docs/guides/import-subscriptions/) for the preview, destinations and automatic updates.

## Bring single servers {#servers}

For a server you added by hand, share it from Shadowrocket as a link or a QR code:

- **Link**: copy it, then in Potatso tap **+**, **Import via Link/File**, paste it and tap **Continue**. You can paste several links at once.
- **QR code**: in Potatso, tap **+**, then **Scan QR Code**. To scan a QR code saved as a picture, tap the photo button in the corner of the scanner.

You can also enter a server by hand with **+**, then **Add Proxy**. See [Getting started](/docs/guides/getting-started/#manual).

Potatso supports [Shadowsocks](/docs/protocols/shadowsocks/), [ShadowsocksR](/docs/protocols/shadowsocksr/), [Trojan](/docs/protocols/trojan/), [VLESS](/docs/protocols/vless/), [VMess](/docs/protocols/vmess/), [HTTP and HTTPS](/docs/protocols/http/), [SOCKS5](/docs/protocols/socks5/), [Hysteria 2](/docs/protocols/hysteria2/), [AnyTLS](/docs/protocols/anytls/) and [Snell](/docs/protocols/snell/). The import preview lists any server it can't import, with the reason.

## Rules {#rules}

A Shadowrocket configuration file uses the same sections as a Surge profile, such as `[General]` and `[Rule]`, so Potatso reads it as a Surge profile. Its rules usually send traffic to `PROXY`, the server selected in Shadowrocket. Potatso has no policy by that name, so it skips those rules and lists them under **Compatibility Issues** in the preview. Rules that go to `DIRECT` or `REJECT` are imported.

Instead of bringing the configuration file, choose one of these in Potatso:

- **Smart** mode sends sites in your region direct and everything else through your server, with no rules to write. It needs Potatso Pro. See [Outbound modes](/docs/guides/outbound-modes/#smart).
- **Rule** mode with your provider's Clash / Mihomo configuration, or with rules and rule sets you add. See [Rules and rule sets](/docs/guides/rules-and-rule-sets/).
- **Global** mode sends everything through your server.

## What carries over {#carries-over}

| From Shadowrocket | In Potatso |
| --- | --- |
| Subscription URLs | ✅ Import the URL. It keeps updating. |
| Share links and QR codes | ✅ |
| Servers with a supported protocol | ✅ See [Protocols](/docs/protocols/). |
| Rules that use `DIRECT` or `REJECT` | ✅ From a configuration file |
| Rules that use `PROXY` | ❌ Skipped. Use a mode or a Clash / Mihomo configuration instead. |
| HTTPS decryption (MitM), URL rewrites, scripts | ❌ Potatso has none of these. |
| `[Host]` entries | ❌ Not imported |

## After you import {#next}

1. Choose an outbound mode on **Home**. See [Outbound modes](/docs/guides/outbound-modes/).
2. Turn on the switch on the status card to connect. The first time, iOS asks to add Potatso's VPN configuration: tap **Allow**.

Disconnect Shadowrocket before you connect Potatso.
